As Tele-Counseling During Coronavirus Booms, a Therapist Seeks Respite

Dr. Amy Cirbus is finding it hard to get away from her job as a therapist and director of clinical content at a company called Talkspace. Simple things—like taking a peaceful walk or tucking her children in—take serious planning during a pandemic.

Talkspace has long been conducting teletherapy sessions, but the practice is dealing with 10 times as many clients compared with early March. Today’s client list includes more medical professionals, essential workers and therapists. Most of the people she talks to are in a crisis.
